Cesenatico is a charming village on the Adriatic riviera, between Bologna and Ancona. Here the summer still retains the charm of the famous italian 60s. But in the low season there is peace and tranquility. Autumn is the time of long beach walks and coffee breaks with sea view.
The old town of Cesenatico is situated around the ancient harbour which maintains the original structure designed in 1500 by Leonardo da Vinci. Cesenatico, a former seamen village, maintains an ancient fascination able to catch the visitors' attention. The harbour offers guests a walk and the possibility to discover the narrow streets of the city centre liven up by lively clubs and fish restaurants furnished in a fishing style and also the modern district of Viale Carducci, parallel to the sea front, where the main tourist services, hotels, restaurants and discos opened all night long developed.
There are well equipped and comfortable bathing establishments and bars which offer appetizers and snacks. A sandy coastline extending for 7 kilometres from Zadina, where the pinewood stretches as far as the beach, permitting holidaymakers to take it easy and enjoy the cool of centuries-old pines, to Centro, with Leonardo da Vinci's canal harbour lined with fish restaurants renowned throughout Italy, as far as Valverde and Villamarina, neighbourhoods offering modern accommodation structures of different types and categories. Comfortable, quiet and safe beaches equipped to cater for a cosmopolitan clientele. The broad avenues and extensive vegetation give Cesenatico a very relaxing look, which is further enhanced by the quaint squares of the old-town centre, the numerous mooring facilities full of pleasure craft, the two large town parks and the multicoloured sails raised on the boats in the Maritime Museum.
Cesenatico and the sea are one and the same thing. The ancient coloured sails of the Marine Museum, which greet the people who arrive and leave tell of this. As far as we know, the town was founded in 1302: nearby Cesena needed a port for its traffic and perhaps for military use. After a succession of events Cesenatico developed above all into a fishing port. Touched by the istory of days gone by, Cesenatico has been, for one hundred years, both an important and renown tourist location.
